The Small Munsterlanders bred by Jaegerbakkens Kennel are approved by the Small Munsterlander Club of North America (SMCNA) and meet all breeding requirements.

SMCNA Breeding Requirements

In an effort to maintain the integrity of the breed and its inherent hunting abilities the Small Munsterlander Club of North America has developed breeding recommendations that should be followed. These recommendations are based on the European requirements for breeding, they are not onerous, they are based in basic common sense and on the knowledge of genetics.

  • Both dogs should have no genetic defects including hip dysplasia

  • Both dogs should have been judged to have normal temperaments

  • Both dogs should not be gunshy

  • Both dogs should be true to the standard

  • Both dogs should have qualified in a NAVHDA Natural Ability Test or its equivalent

  • Both dogs should have been declared HD free by OFA and received a GOOD rating or by PennHIP and received a reading of the distraction index of less than 0.50

    Linus Available for Stud

Jaegerbakkens Linus was born on 12 August 2004. He is out of Echo and Sired by Appi.
Linus has proven himself both in the field and in the conformation ring.
At the 2007 9th Annual Conference of the Small Munsterlander Club of North America he was judged Excellent/Excellent (the only dog at the conference that received that fine classification) in both coat and conformation.
At the Shoot-to-Retrieve event Linus and Paul won the Quail Championship in the Hunter Division with 24 participants.
Linus is NAVHDA Utility Tested with a score of 159 Points and a Prize III.
His PennHIP distraction index is .33/.21.
Linus is approved by the SMCNA Breed Council for breeding.
Linus is being used extensively for hunting quail, pheasants, grouse, chukars and his specialty is woodcock. He has the intelligence to move with care in the thickets and the quality of nose that ensures that the woodcock are pointed and not pushed out and his retrieves are flawless.

If you are interested and have an approved female that will compliment Linus' attributes, please give us a call at (978)369-1930.

Echo was born on May 19, 2002 and she was tested in a NAVHDA natural ability test where she received a score of 100 points and a prize III. She caught a quail during the field search and played "it's mine" which lowered her search score resulting in the prize III classification. Echo was the cause for Jaegerbakkens Kennel receiving the SMCNA Breeder's Award for its N Litter in June of 2006. One of Echo's full sisters, Amsel vom Herzcoff, became a NAVHDA Versatile Champion in September 2007.

Echo's PennHIP evaluation showed that she has extremely tight hips in the 90th percentile for the breed. Her distraction index was 0.27/0.32.

Appi was born on January 6, 1994 and he was tested in a NAVHDA natural ability test and received a score of 112 points (maximum) but no prize classification since he was older that the required age of 16 months at the time of the testing. Appi sired the second Small Munsterlander to receive a NAVHDA Versatile Champion title, Bayside Run's Boudin.

Appi is now deceased but he lives on in our hearts. His genes are carried forward through Linus.

Appi received the SMCNA Sire Award for the litter he sired with DeJong's Hetze Abigail Dakota in May of 2000. Appi is also the first dog to finish in the Top 6 for 3 consecutive years at the SMCNA bird hunting championship.
